Sasieni Windsor 55s Sandblasted Billiard Estate Briar Pipe, English Estates. Along with names like Barling, Charatan, and Dunhill Sasieni holds a special place in the history of English smoking pipes – one near to its very beginnings. So the story goes, Sasieni himself worked for Dunhill during its early days. But eventually he left Dunhill, having his own ideas about how pipes should be made, and founded Sasieni. This was 1919, and Sasieni has been the closest thing to a household name in English pipes ever since. Sasieni always had particularly exacting standards for its pipes, even within the highly competitive milieu of 20th century English pipes. So, when a bowl was found to have even the tiniest, superficial imperfection, it would be used for one of Sasieni’s many sub-brands. Such will have been the case for this Old England saddle billiard, though I couldn’t tell you exactly how it missed out on being a Four Dot or Two Dot of some variety. The condition is very good. There’s patches of darkening on the rim, and the nomenclature is a little faded (though still readable), but nothing major. Length: 6? / 152.4mm. Bowl Width: 0.83 / 21.08mm. Bowl Depth: 1.65? / 41.91mm. Weight: 1.6oz / 46g. Replace this text with your service information.
