1930’s Kaywoodie Large Oom Paul 49 Super Grain Vintage Antique Briar Pipe

Hasn’t been smoked since SmokingPipes restored it. 1930’s Kaywoodie Super Grain Large Oom Paul with original large 4 hole stinger still in tact. Quite a robustly proportioned jaw-hanger, this Oom Paul features a stout shank, deep transition, and lots of chamber, not to mention a respectable smooth finish. Measurements & Other Details. Super Grain(in script). 4.5/5 Rim darkening, plus a few dings on the bowl. Length: 5.31 in. Weight: 2.40 oz. Bowl Height: 2.06 in. Chamber Depth: 1.78 in. Chamber Diameter: 0.82 in. Outside Diameter: 1.36 in. Some things to help age this pipe. Drinkless name started use in 1924. Imported Briar Stamp Started Use in 1934. Round Circle around logo began in 1936. 2 Digit Shape Codes Plus a Letter 1939 Onward. It of course has the large ball 4 hole stinger where later pipes had smaller ball 4 hole stingers and eventually 3 hole stingers by the 1960’s. Vintage Estate Savinelli Moka Large Rustic Lumberman Sitter 811KS Cumberland Bit

The Savinelli 811KS is listed in their shape chart as a half bent Lumberman. Here’s a fine rustic briar of that designation. About 6 1/4″ long, bowl is 2″ tall, 1 1/2 wide. ID 13/16″, depth 1 3/4″. Marked beneath bowl and shank SAVINELLI arched over Moka then the Savinelli shield below crossed pipes 811KS/ ITALY. The Savinelli shield is stamped atop bit. No other marks detected. Cumberland Bit is well-seated push fit, 6mm filter with adaptor, cleaned and polished, showing a couple very light tooth impressions. Stummel is midnight colored, orange highlights with intricate rustication including clean rim, some darkening, lightly caked bowl. Beautiful Lumberman, fine texture on this old briar! Here’s a flame grain, large fan shaped Freehand from Sorgenfri of Denmark. No reference found, but fine pipe craft! About 6″ long, bowl is 2 1/2″ tall, 1 5/8″ wide laterally and 2″ wide along axis of pipe. ID 3/4″, depth 1 1/2″. Marked beneath shank Sorgenfri/ HAND MADE/ DENMARK. No other marks detected. Hand cut military bit is well-seated push fit, no filter, cleaned and polished, showing some oxidation and a few tooth marks. Beautiful grain on this old fan shaped Freehand from a little known Danish master of pipecraft! Please examine photos and ask questions.
