Algerian briar, for which now there’s no supply, is considered the finest smoking briar. It was primarily sourced through France from colonial French Algeria, but the supply was cut off when the French were ousted during the Algerian War. In fact, the French themselves bombed the Algerian coastline where the briar grew. This pipe is especially unique because of the hinged swinging vent on the bowl, a very rare Mastercraft.
