The pipe’s silver ferrule has also John Middleton hallmark J. M in an ellipse and “Sterling”. The root briar shank is marked with the John Middleton. Hallmark JM in an ellipse. This pipe is a true piece of History! I have no idea how many pipes were ordered from John Middleton by the 577 Harvard graduates of 1913. I also have no idea how many pipes have savived 111 years, two world wars and are still hiding in an attic some where. This is a scarce pipe and may be one of the last surviving pipes from the golden age before two world wars.
