PETERSON’S DELUXE (8S) STERLING SILVER MOUNT BENT SYSTEM TOBACCO PIPE PRE 1960s
GORGEOUS Pre 1960s Deluxe System Smooth (8s) P-Lip with Sterling silver Mount Tobacco Pipe. In the Deluxe System series, Peterson’s “313” bent Billiard is stamped 8s. ” It’s a staple within the System series, dating back to Peterson’s first catalog in 1896, and outside the System line, the design is designated as the “338. ” The Irish marque’s iconic shaping style is often described as “tubular” and muscular, and the “8s does well to exemplify this convention. The bowl rises tall and upright, posing a cylindrical, tube-like disposition, while the shank and transition retain the aforementioned hearty and robust proportions. That said, the overall length remains quite compact, and the sinuous bend provides a comfortable clenching posture – the gesture of the stem and curling heel calling to mind the profile of the iconic “05” shape but without the bowl’s flare at the rim. Pre 1960s due to the reminents of the Bone tenon extension, which came to me broken and I have left partially intact, Peterson discontinued the use of bone in the 60s. Chamber is in great smoked condition, Vulcanite Stem is Jet black and Chatter Free. Beautiful mix of Birds eye and Flame Grain with a light near natural finish. Clean and Shiny, Ready to Smoke. Overall length: 5 3/8. Bowl height: 1 3/4. Bowl width: 1 1/8. Chamber depth: 1 5/16. Chamber is in outstanding smoked condition with No Scorching, Ghosting or Rim Darkening. Stem is Jet black Vulcanite, Chatter free and fits the pipe shank snuggly. Cleaned inside/out and buffed with Carnauba wax.

Estate Peterson’s XL02 Sterling Silver Apple Silver Mount 1988 P-Lip Bit-Nice
The Peterson’s XL02 is a beefy ball shaped apple design. About 5 1/2″ long, bowl is 1 3/4″ tall, 1 3/4 wide. ID 13/16″, depth 1 3/8″. Marked on one side of shank Peterson’s in script/ “STERLING SILVER”, other side MADE IN THE/ REPUBLIC/ OF IRELAND/ XL02. Band is stamped Peterson’s in script/ DUBLIN, then STERLING/ SILVER then three hallmarks: seated Hibernia, harp, capital C (indicating 1988). A capital P stamped on side of bit. No other marks detected. P-lip Bit is well-seated push fit, 6mm filter, clean and polished, showing a hint of chatter. A beautiful Pete, chunky! Please examine photos and ask questions.
