This is a Dr. Grabow CDL – Cool, Dry, Light – briar-and-metal apple pipe made by the Sparta, N. Only a few hundred of these were made and test marketed in several U. They never went into full production. This is a rare find for those who like to smoke system – metal and briar – pipes. It accepts the standard Dr. Grabow filter and can be smoked with or without the filter. There is a small vent hole in the back of the bowl that allows the smoker to control the flow of air into the tobacco chamber further regulating how warm or cool the pipe smokes. This Pipe was acquired at an estate sale of a wealthy Tobacconist collector. Natural aging is present with unique patinas, a truly fine specimen and survivor and work of art and a peice of art.
